Be a Hero and Save the Planet

Well at least virtually. IBM has released a new multiplayer online game named PowerUp that challenges players to save the planet Helios from ecological disaster.
Players can play the game individually or as a group. The player’s objective is to save planet Helios from destruction. Planet Helios is heating up and its atmosphere is filled with carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. The extreme weather and storms have destroyed much of the renewable energy infrastructure.
Players have to solve three missions for solar, wind and water before the planet goes into destruction.

PowerUp is created to encourage players to learn about engineering principles. Players will also learn about energy conservation and what they can do to ensure our planet will not end up like planet Helios.
Stanley Litow, vice president of corporate citizenship and corporate affairs at IBM, said that IBM also developed lesson plans that teachers can use in the classroom. Teachers can use this game in their curriculum to teach math and science to their students.
