Saving Gaia - Effective or Distasteful

Do take a look at the advertisement video below.

What was the first idea that came to your mind?

Well for me, I though that this advertisement was trying to portray the idea of child abuse - With the creepy background music and the use of a mannequin who turned into a boy. Well I couldn’t help it. But the advertisement did catch my attention. Maybe not in the right way. It seems like I am not the only odd one out. Having been running for eight days, the advertisement was finally taken off after receiving complaints from the viewers.

This advertisement was first aired in June to promote Channel NewsAsia’s ‘Saving Gaia six-part documentary series, which premieres Monday, June 16 2008. The highlight of this programme shows how some Asians are solving their most pressing environmental problems, as well as the repercussions of these conservation efforts.

The content of the series itself is very insightful and I highly recommend you to watch it if you can. The series will also be aired in Singapore, every Monday at 8.30pm.
