Clearing the air with SMRT
SMRT, Singapore’s premier multi-modal public transport service provider is initiating a green campaign called SMRT is green. In this campaign, they are committed to sustainable development through the promotion of public transport and green practices amongst their business partners, customers and staff. They also aim to raise awareness of green issues and help consumers choose green modes of travel.
To promote more consumers to actually use public transportation, they have a lucky draw where the prize is free travel with any SMRT transport for a period of 6 months or one year.
If you visit their website here, you can actually see that the website is designed with the top fold showing a bus moving in an empty lane and the bottom fold has a row of cars caught in a traffic. This is to show you that it is actually more convenient and faster to use the public transport. Best of all, it greatly reduces the carbon footprint.
Personally, I prefer travelling around with public transport. At least I do not need to worry about paying for the ERP ( Electronic Road Pricing ).
