Not sure if this happens to you people. Everytime when I visit Ikea the furntiure mall, even though I do not have anything to buy in mind, I will still end up buying something. I guess the things there are just too attractive and affordable to resist. Soon we may have more reason to purchase from Ikea as they seem to be going to integrate green technologies into their products.

Ikea is planning to sell solar panels as part of a massive investment in clean technology startup companies. The company says it will invest $77 million of its Greentech Energy fund in clean technology over the next five years.

Other than solar panels, the company will sell alternative light sources, product materials, general energy efficiency tools as well as water purification/saving devices. The company earlier this year announced it will stop handing out plastic bags at its checkouts next October and its Danish outlets offer customers the option to transport goods back by bike and trailer.

Cant wait to actually get my hands on some solar panels. Now we can D.I.Y the green way.
